What does F1b mean?

Great question!

This is a great chart to explain what a F1b dog is:

Mishael is a mixed breed dog. Her parents are a Golden Retriever Mom and a Toy Poodle Dad, as shown in the top 2 dogs. Their offspring makes what is called an F1 Goldendoodle, which would be 50% Golden Retriever and 50% Poodle. Since the Dad was a Toy Poodle, it makes her a F1 Miniature (or Mini) Goldendoodle. She is much smaller than a Standard Poodle.

Mishael was bred with a Toy Poodle, so if you look at the second row of dogs in the chart, ignore the 1st dog in this row and look at the 2nd and 3rd dogs. Mishael would be the second dog, bred with the third dog, a Poodle (Toy Poodle in her case). Their offspring would be in the third row, again ignore the first dog in that row and look at the 2nd dog, they would make a F1b Goldendoodle. This makes them 25% Golden Retriever and 75% Poodle.

Since the male we bred Mishael with was a Toy Poodle as well, they have F1b Mini Goldendoodles, therefore they should be small.

Mishael is 22 lbs and Daniel, the Toy Poodle, is 8 lbs. We expect their puppies to be in the 10-15 lb range fully grown. The boys usually being a bit bigger, and the females usually on the smaller side. However, there is no guarantee that they will be this size. With a healthy diet, the puppies could range from as small as the Daddy to as big as the Mommy. They will also be more hypoallergenic since they are 75% poodle.
